I go issue by issue so i'm not crazy about a numbered ranking that would give the wrong impression, BUT, hard pressed to do it, I;d have to say i'm hovering around 7 or 8.

BTW, Castro? Great beard, NOT a nice fellow. Does that mean Bay of Pigs was a good idea? No. Neither was Vietnam, nor is Iraq.

Bush senior? Horrible. Should have been hung by his toes along with Reagan for Iran-Contra. Bush Jr.? Don't even get me started.

But: Nixon, while a paranoid anti-semite who deserved his disgrace ALSO gave us the Clean Air and Water act, opened up China, and gave Hunter Thompson the chance to be a star.

The Bill O'Reillys of the world make me want to throw up profusely, BUT i do believe whether you're an illegal or legal immigrant, if you;re going to stay in this country, you should damn well learn how to speak English. If I was going to live in France, i'd make sure I knew how to speak French, or at least condescendingly to others.

If this government had an ounce of smarts it would legalize marijuana, tax it, make BILLIONS, and be able to control its potency. No, I don't think hard drugs like Coke and heroin should also get a green light. And denying MEDICAL marijuana to anyone who needs it is just plain cruelty.

I think hunting is fine, but it's insane for people to equate sport hunting with the right to own an automatic weapon. If you need an Uzi to kill an elk, you shouldn't be allowed out the door, much less own an instant mass killing machine.

Abortion is a woman's choice, and if men could have babies this wouldn't even be a fucking debate in this country. Try telling Pat Robertson he's got to carry the child he got from being raped by Hugo Chavez to term because God says he has to. Yeah, right.

I don't care what religion you believe in as long as you don't try to shove it down my throat or teach it in my schools, or kill me for not believing in "your God"--that goes for ANY "God".

Don't whine to me about anti-religious bias or a "war on Xmas" when there are thousands of churches all around the nation where anyone can pray and genuflect freely any damn time they want. If you think your kids should be taught that the bible is a history book, teach them yourself. Evolution is real and denying it to your children in school is an emrace of ignorance.

I'm an agnostic and damn proud of it. That is NOT the same as being an atheist. I cannot answer the point of origin question and NO ONE CAN. But I also think that just maybe the answer is not that God is some dude with a white beard sitting on a cloud booming out orders to kill this person or that if they don't obey his rules. I believe the greater power that started 'all this" is probably well beyond the realm of human comprehension and that's just fine and dandy with me.

Any questions?

Good stuff.. agreed with every bit of it, and remained neutral for the parts that I didn't know much about (Like everything you said about Reagan?? Over my head, i'm only 18 :P)

By the way, welcome back? Seems like you haven't posted for a while

Sometimes it seems you have to be brave to even read about this stuff, because even head spooks die of cancer before they can testify or are found floating in the Potomac.

And the right-wingnuts threaten everyone from the editor of the NYT to Pelosi to bloggers:

Spocko/ABC story on SF CBS 5

I hope I never have to feel like the Native Amercians or African Americans of 100 years ago.
